Friday 5: The Outsiders
Since it has become apparent that I’m probably not going to sleep today….let’s start something new.
1. What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Sport or actual outdoor activity? I enjoy playing volleyball and tossing a frisbee around outside, but hiking can be quite enjoyable in small doses. Being outside in the sun is great, as long as there is plenty of refreshing cold water for me to drink/douse myself with to keep cool.
2. Are you outdoors not often enough, too often, or just often enough?
With the weather so lovely, I’m probably not outside enough. Whitman has a really huge outdoor program, which offers everything from scrambles for freshman to get to know one another before the year starts by participating in some outdoor trip, to climbing/hiking/rafting/snowshoeing excursions on weekends and first aid certification.
Hui Aloha Lu'au
This year’s lu’au was amazing. To sum everything up, not only was the food delicious, but the set-up went fairly quickly with plenty of people working together, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the performances, though not perfect, were beautiful. I thought that I had worked hard last year, but I was definitely exhausted after the weekend.
Returning from spring break with 38 yards of fabric, I promptly borrowed Jessica’s sewing machine and began sewing hula skirts for the club. In addition hula practices had started up and teaching 3 dances kept me very busy. It’s funny though, how I ended up teaching hula. I’ve only done it for May Days in elementary, the Hawaii Suzuki Strings Tour to Canada, sophomore year in hs, and last year at the lu’au, but somehow with the two best dancers graduating last year, I ended up taking over some of their duties. Haha, me teaching hula. Anyway, here are just some highlights of the event. Continue reading the rest of the entry for more pictures. I should get some video footage later.

We had a silent auction for charity, headed by Tam (I helped a little with the flower arranging. Johnson-sensei would have been proud. oh, that’s right, I meant to ask her if she saw them…lol)
Happy Easter!

Happy New Year!

These pictures are the start of my own attempt at a project 365 ^_^
Rod, Nikki, Alan, and I went to Waikiki for New Year’s Eve. Played Supernova at Ala Moana, walked around Waikiki, played Uno at the Burger King in King’s Village, hung out around the pool at the Hyatt, and watched fireworks from the beach around midnight. The pictures were from the show put on by a company from New York. I had such an amazing time and crazy enough, I was lucky with the pictures from the highlight of our night XD! Afterwards we drove to Kunia, got lost because of our drunk friends’ senses of direction. Got home around 3, woke up for breakfast at 8. Had ozoni, kuromame, and arare then went to uncle Art’s for lunch. Spent some time with Rod at his apartment and then we both went with my family to dinner at Duk-Kee. I had so much to each but it was delicious! Went back with Rod to his place and hung out till 11 watching him play Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.
